Hi! My name is Xander and I am a 1-year-old, 50 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I should be crated when left alone.

I am nervous with new people and anyone I meet needs to follow my lead and respect my social cues. I have been working with my trainer to understand appropriate interactions with people and have done well with men, women, and older children with proper introductions. I am very affectionate with my trusted people and love to spend time with you! I would do best in a low traffic home with fewer visitors.

I love other dogs though I can be rambunctious with my request for interactions so not all other dogs love me. I would love to have a playful, tolerant, confident canine companion to help show me the ropes and who can help you continue teaching me my canine manners. I love to wrestle with my foster siblings! I enjoy toys, especially Kongs, and would love a yard where I can play or explore safely. I cannot go to a home with cats.

I have been working on my obedience training and have learned sit, come, place, and off. I have also learned heel and walk well on leash. I ride well in the car and have been going on field trips to places like Lowe’s to practice my training in public! I strive with structure and boundaries. My adopter must be willing to come meet me and my trainer in the Kearneysville WV / Northern Virginia area to make sure we are a good fit! I have been working hard and am ready to find my perfect handler, could that be you?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states east of the Mississippi. Visit our Newcomers to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog is available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $350. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
