Hi there! My name is Samson and I am a 2-year-old, 80 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained, though I am a gentleman who does not need to be crated when left home alone.
I am a sweet boy who loves everyone I meet: men and women! Any children in my home should be older as small children may inadvertently hurt me. I actively seek affection and love getting belly rubs or massages! I am welcoming of visitors to our home.
I require slow, proper introductions to get along with other dogs. The other dog needs to be female and socially appropriate. I am currently fostered with two female Shepherds and I enjoy their company and will play with them in the yard! I like to carry toys and chews around and will engage in short games of fetch in the yard! I have done well with cats.
Before I came to Echo Dogs, I suffered an unknown traumatic injury leaving me with improperly healed fractures in three of my legs and my sternum. I am on pain meds and joint supplements which I will need to be on for life—they cost about $90/month. I am currently well-managed on my meds, but my orthopedic doctor suspects my health will decline in a couple of years and my life (of quality) will be shorter than most Shepherds. I enjoy going for short walks and can get into vehicles without assistance, though my adopter should have the ability to lift me should I need it in the future. I would do best in a single-level home where I won’t need to regularly do stairs.
I love car rides and have learned my basic commands working with my trainer! I am a happy, loving boy who is ready to find my perfect adoptive home – could you be my family?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states east of the Mississippi. Visit our Newcomers to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog is available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $300. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
