Hello—I’m Janice. I am a 2-year-old, 65 lb spayed female. I am already housebroken and crate-trained. I do not need to be crated when left home alone, but my crate is a safe space so I will need a crate for comfort.
I am extremely fearful towards new people and will need a very patient, adult-only home. It took me a couple of months to warm up to my foster mom. I will still retreat and hide when other people come to our home, even if I’ve seen them several times before. I will seek some affection from my foster mom in the morning or if my canine foster sister is seeking affection. I will follow my foster mom from room to room.
I am friendly with other dogs who are laid back and respectful of my boundaries, but high energy dogs scare me into hiding and I will yelp when they try to play with me. I would likely benefit from having a confident, laid back canine sibling. I will ignore cats other than some whining if they’re running around, although I do not chase and my feline foster siblings are both comfortable for me. I do like toys to play on my own, but you rolling or throwing a ball will scare me as will loud noises.
At this time, I still am unable to walk on a leash. I will flatten to the ground, cry, and sometimes fearfully urinate when leashed. I also need to be transported in an airline crate in the car. I need to be sedated prior to vet visits as I am terrified.
I will be a long work in progress and need a very special home willing to pick me up within a few hours of Atlanta, GA, who has a lot of patience, and a willingness to work with an experienced trainer to help me settle into my home. Could that be with you?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states east of the Mississippi. Visit our Newcomers to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog is available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $300. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
