Hi! My name is Bear and I am a 1-year-old, 63 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I currently need to be crated when left home alone and sleep in my crate at night. I have come to enjoy my crate.

I am anxious with new people and need time to warm up. I am good at communicating when I am uncomfortable so I am looking for humans who understand canine body language and are willing to spend some time getting to know me. Once I warm up, I am a big mush and love any attention I can get! I love to snuggle and give kisses!

I am easy to introduce to other dogs and would love a confident, playful canine sibling! I adjust my play style to match that of the dog I am playing with and effortlessly understand other dogs’ social cues. I love small plush ball toys, tennis balls, and stuffies! I haven’t mastered fetch, though I will chase after toys when they’re thrown! I haven’t been destructive with my toys either.  I cannot go to a home with cats.

Leash walking was a foreign concept to me when I came into Echo Dogs, so my skills are still a work in progress though I am improving significantly and now only pull slightly! The car is similar and I often need assistance loading up, then I ride great once I am in! I am obsessed with food which has been helpful when out for socialization, although my impulse control around food is a work in progress. I am an intelligent, loving, energetic boy who is looking for a committed adopter willing to continue my training and socialization. My adopter must be local to Wilmington, DE so we can meet prior to adoption. Could you be my family?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states east of the Mississippi. Visit our Newcomers to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog is available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $300. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
