Hi there! My name is Chico and I am a 1-year-old, 40 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained although I can’t always control my bladder if I am frightened so I may have accidents during my transition. I am already crate-trained and am currently crated when left home alone.
I am fearful with new people and need time to acclimate with strangers. I have begun accepting affection from people other than my family as long as you move slowly, sudden movements are still scary and cause me to retreat! I am comfortable seeking affection from my foster mom and do well with a confident handler.
I have done well with other dogs after proper introductions and would thrive having a confident canine companion to help show me the ropes. Living in the human world is still new for me so I follow the other dogs’ lead in my foster home. I have also learned to play! I haven’t quite figured out toys yet. I cannot go to a home with cats.
I have been doing well with my leash training at home and am working to expand my horizons to more public spaces. I am a gentle soul who is still learning about my new world so I will need a patient adopter willing to continue working with me on my socialization. Could you be my new family?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states east of the Mississippi. Visit our Newcomers to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog is available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $350. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
