Hi there! My name is Chaney and I am a 2-year-old, 50 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I am currently crated when left home alone at my foster home and do well when crated.
After a proper introduction, I have done well with both men and women. I cannot go to a home with children. Once I am comfortable with my family, I will actively seek affection and enjoy spending time with my people. I am fear reactive to new people and will raise my hackles and bark until I have had a proper introduction, so a home with few visitors to start would be ideal. I have shown absolutely no aggression and largely prefer to retreat to what I consider a safe distance in these types of situations.
I am equally as unsure of new dogs as I am new people, but I adore my canine friends after a proper introduction. My foster brother and I love to wrestle and play all the time, although I also respect my foster sister and her preference to not play quite as much. I would love to have a confident, stable, active canine sibling to take cues from. I cannot go to a home with cats or chickens. I am extremely food and toy motivated and will eagerly work for both, especially my tennis ball! I LOVE fetch!
I am sensitive to change in my environment and have displayed hyperactive behavior due to significant anxiety, so I am currently benefitting from daily fluoxetine medication paired with behavioral training. My foster mom provides a structured, balanced daily life and I have improved significantly already. I know sit, down, shake, crate, over, and “okay” for release. I am learning place, heel, come, and center (between your legs). I require a family willing to work with a professional trainer and would thrive in a family familiar with channeling the drive of working dogs.
I also take Apoquel medication and am on a limited ingredient diet to control some allergies. I am a project dog who will need a dedicated owner to help me continue to improve and thrive… could you be who I am looking for?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states east of the Mississippi. Visit our Newcomers to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog is available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $300. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
