Hello! My name is Bette and I am a 1-year-old, 40 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and have been working hard on my crate-training. I am comfortable in my crate if I can see a person. I currently take daily fluoxetine to help me manage significant separation anxiety. I have been working with my foster mom on controlled, incremental exposures to being left alone and am currently up to about 4 hours in a secure crate—though some regression should be expected with the transition to a new home. I will need someone willing to continue working with me on this.

I love my people and will actively seek all the affection and snuggles I can get from them! I can be suspicious of new people and may bark at them. It is best for new people to ignore me until I have determined they are okay and approach on my own, then I will be ready to accept affection (because again, affection is awesome when I know I can trust you!).

I have done well meeting other dogs and like to play with my foster sister! I may benefit from having a confident dog in the house, though another dog isn’t a requirement for my adoption. I have displayed resource guarding around food, treats, and my valued toys so I need to have these things separately from other dogs. I cannot go to a home with cats.

I ride well in the car and like to accompany my foster mom on outings! My leash skills are a work in progress as I didn’t have much practice until recently, so I pull and am learning how to pass other dogs calmly. I have started learning some commands such as sit and come. I came to Echo Dogs with both my front legs broken. They were corrected using plates and screws, and I have since recovered, but my adoptive family should be prepared for early arthritis or pain issues as I age. I am a diamond in the rough who is ready to find my perfect committed family—could that be with you?

Echo Dogs fosters dogs in many states. Visit www.echodogs.org/available-dogs to see more of our dogs. Transportation for the adopted dog IS available. Remember, we are an all-volunteer foster rescue organization - we DO NOT have a physical shelter to visit. Our minimum adoption donation is $350. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Puppies under 6 months old may not be spayed/neutered. This would be the responsibility of the adopter at their own expense. Proof of spay/neuter will be required!
