"I have seen so much about Echo Dogs on this site that I went there just out of curiosity. I found my dog Sunny listed under North Carolina Whites needing to be adopted. She was at a women's home in Richfield in a less than perfect environment. Her previous name was Creamy. I have told this lady to take her off of her site, and she did say that right after I called to inquire about her, someone from a rescue group did also. Glad I was the lucky one but on the other hand I am glad that there are others out there who care.
She is mine now and I will be forever grateful."

THANKS JANE!
GOOD LUCK TO YOU AND SUNNY!!!!

ADOPTION / FOSTERING QUESTIONS?

Want to foster or adopt a dog? Read the info listed below, or, if you have any specific questions, contact us at: info@echodogs.org

FILL OUT AN ADOPTION APPLICAION

Adoption Applications are only approved to people that meet all of the requirements.

Echo Dogs White Shepherd Rescue is comprised of a network of volunteers who work tirelessly at taking unwanted, abandoned or mistreated pets (usually from dog pounds and shelters), and finding permanent, loving homes for them.

We do NOT operate a facility.  Instead, we take these poor, deserted, mistreated animals into our own homes at our own expense.

We feed them, give them the love, nourishment and comfort that they need to get healthy again, provide medical care out of our own pockets, and retrain them to trust humans again so that they will be adoptable.

Surrendering your personal pet

Unlike some rescue organizations, we will accept owner-surrendered dogs.  However, finding foster space for them takes a lower priority than taking a dog from a shelter who may be put to sleep at any moment.  If you have a dog for whom you would like us to find a home, we require that your dog be current on DHPP, rabies and bordatella vaccinations and spayed or neutered.  We can obtain these services for you, provided that you pay the cost to us at the time the dog is relinquished.

We will require that you let us, or someone on our behalf, visit the dog for a temperament test and ask that you keep the dog in your home until placement or until we have foster space available, so please plan ahead if you are relinquishing your dog.  We are unable to respond to emergency requests for rehoming; our process requires some prior planning.

Of course, we would appreciate any donations for the service of rehoming your pet.  It takes a great deal of resources and volunteer time for us to advertise, process applications, screen applicants and transport the dogs.  We believe that this service should be worth $50-100, which would be a tax-deductible donation to our non-profit charitable organization.

You can make a donation through PayPal, Network for Good or US Postal Service.

Standard Adoption Donation

We ask a standard adoption donation of ...............................................................$250

This donation is approximately equivalent to the average medical expenses we incur for a dog in our program.  Your donations help defray the cost of our out-of-pocket expenses to care for each dog with medical expenses, and some miscellaneous expenses and helps ensure that you adopt a healthy, happy dog.

Adopting a friend
Our adoption process includes a thorough application submission, including vet reference, personal references and a home visit prior to placing any dog. All approved adoptions are finalized with a legal and binding contract. Most of the dogs available for adoption through our organization are older puppies and adults. All of our dogs are current on vaccinations, free of external and internal parasites, heartworm negative and on preventative, and all are spayed or neutered prior to placement in their new homes. Young puppies are occasionally available for adoption, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption at our veterinarian. NO EXCEPTIONS! Please be aware that adopting a dog is a lifetime commitment.
